Biology Open transfer option

If your paper is rejected from Development, Journal of Cell Science, Journal of Experimental Biology or Disease Models & Mechanisms, with your approval it can be transferred to BiO for editorial consideration.

BiO also accepts the transfer of peer review reports from submissions to other, non-Company, journals. In addition, we have an agreement in place with the journal eLife, who, upon request from authors, will transfer articles and their reviewer reports should an article be rejected.

BiO focuses on the swift publication of high-quality, sound research. Editors are respected academics and leaders in their field.

It’s easy

There’s no need to repeat the submission process or reformat your manuscript.

You also have the opportunity to revise the article in response to any transferred reviews.

It’s fast

You get rapid editorial decisions from research-active academics.

Transfer with existing reviews for a streamlined approach means you can usually avoid the need for further rounds of review – and get a decision in an average of 9 days.

We are quicker than our key competitors, with a median speed to acceptance of only 30 days.

Your accepted article is published as an Accepted manuscript within 5 days of acceptance.

You will also receive a proof of the typeset article before publication in an issue.

It’s well respected

BiO papers are handled by field leaders, including Fanni Gergely, Kendra Greenlee, Jack P. Hayes, Catherine L. Jackson, Yishi Jin, Sjannie Lefevre, Christopher Maher, Jennifer Nichols, Tristan Rodriguez, Luca Scorrano and Yong Peng in a team led by Editor-in-Chief Steven Kelly.

All articles are indexed by PubMed, Scopus and Thomson Reuters (Web of Science).

It’s accessible

BiO is an Open Access journal.

We charge a fee of $1595 – with no other page or colour charges.

Ready to transfer?

Here’s how it works in more detail…

Criteria for acceptance: your paper addresses a scientific question, experimental work is sound and properly conducted, and the conclusions are adequately supported by the data.

Editorially rejected? Our streamlined review procedures are simple, fast, ethical and rigorous.

Transferring after rejection with reviewer reports? BiO Editors are proactive in identifying revisions that enable the paper to be accepted without further review or additional experiments. The majority of papers transferred with reviews are accepted for publication.

To transfer a specific paper, reply to your decision letter to instruct article transfer or click on the link in the letter. We take it from there.
