  • RESEARCH ARTICLE
Acid sphingomyelinase regulates the localization and trafficking of palmitoylated proteins
Xiahui Xiong, Chia-Fang Lee, Wenjing Li, Jiekai Yu, Linyu Zhu, Yongsoon Kim, Hui Zhang, Hong Sun
    Biology Open 2019 8: bio040311 doi: 10.1242/bio.040311 Published 17 October 2019

Summary: Acid sphingomyelinase (ASM) regulates palmitoylated protein trafficking and localization.

  • RESEARCH ARTICLE
The Golgi matrix protein giantin is required for normal cilia function in zebrafish
    Dylan J. M. Bergen, Nicola L. Stevenson, Roderick E. H. Skinner, David J. Stephens, Christina L. Hammond
    Biology Open 2017 6: 1180-1189; doi: 10.1242/bio.025502

Summary: Morpholino knockdown of Golgb1/giantin leads to a severe cilopathy phenotype twinned with longer, misshapen cilia. Stable mutants have a very mild phenotype, indicative of compensation, but still have longer cilia.

  • RESEARCH ARTICLE
The roles of Syx5 in Golgi morphology and Rhodopsin transport in Drosophila photoreceptors
Takunori Satoh, Yuri Nakamura, Akiko K. Satoh
    Biology Open 2016 5: 1420-1430; doi: 10.1242/bio.020958

Summary: Unlike Rab6-deficiency which affects only apical transport pathways, Syx5-deficiency inhibits all of polarized transport pathways, implying that these two genes are working in distinct stages of intra-Golgi transport.

  • RESEARCH ARTICLE
The role of acroblast formation during Drosophila spermatogenesis
Karolina Fári, Sándor Takács, Dániel Ungár, Rita Sinka
    Biology Open 2016 5: 1102-1110; doi: 10.1242/bio.018275

Summary: This study demonstrates that retrograde tethering complexes are necessary to form a functional acroblast, which is essential for normal nuclear elongation and acrosome formation during Drosophila spermatogenesis.

  • METHODS & TECHNIQUES
An antibody toolkit for the study of membrane traffic in Drosophila melanogaster
Falko Riedel, Alison K. Gillingham, Cláudia Rosa-Ferreira, Antonio Galindo, Sean Munro
    Biology Open 2016 5: 987-992; doi: 10.1242/bio.018937

Summary: We report the generation and characterization of set of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies for labeling the major compartments of the secretory and endocytic pathways in Drosophila melanogaster.

  • RESEARCH ARTICLE

Yifan Zhang, Iman Moeini-Naghani, JunPing Bai, Joseph Santos-Sacchi, Dhasakumar S. Navaratnam
    Biology Open 2015 4: 197-205; doi: 10.1242/bio.201410629
  • RESEARCH ARTICLE
GRASP65 controls the cis Golgi integrity in vivo
Tineke Veenendaal, Tim Jarvela, Adam G. Grieve, Johan H. van Es, Adam D. Linstedt, Catherine Rabouille
    Biology Open 2014 3: 431-443; doi: 10.1242/bio.20147757
  • RESEARCH ARTICLE
Opposing microtubule motors control motility, morphology and cargo segregation during ER-to-Golgi transport
Anna K. Brown, Sylvie D. Hunt, David J. Stephens
    Biology Open 2014 3: 307-313; doi: 10.1242/bio.20147633
  • RESEARCH ARTICLE
Distinct adaptor proteins assist exit of Kre2-family proteins from the yeast ER
Yoichi Noda, Takehiro Hara, Minako Ishii, Koji Yoda
    Biology Open 2014 3: 209-224; doi: 10.1242/bio.20146312
