Leptin

  • RESEARCH ARTICLE
Seasonal variations in cellular and humoral immunity in male striped hamsters (Cricetulus barabensis)
De-Li Xu, Xiao-Kai Hu, Yufen Tian
    Biology Open 2018 7: bio038489 doi: 10.1242/bio.038489 Published 10 December 2018

Summary: Seasonal changes in immunity, body fat, blood glucose, leptin and corticosterone and their correlations in striped hamsters.

  • RESEARCH ARTICLE
The leptin system and its expression at different nutritional and pregnant stages in lined seahorse (Hippocampus erectus)
Huixian Zhang, Geng Qin, Yanhong Zhang, Shuisheng Li, Qiang Lin
    Biology Open 2016 5: 1508-1515; doi: 10.1242/bio.020750

Summary: This study provided insights into the function of the leptin system in energy metabolism regulation and male pregnancy in lined seahorse (Hippocampus erectus).

  • RESEARCH ARTICLE
Downregulation of leptin inhibits growth and induces apoptosis of lung cancer cells via the Notch and JAK/STAT3 signaling pathways
    Xian-Jie Zheng, Zhong-Xin Yang, Yan-Jun Dong, Guo-Yu Zhang, Ming-Fei Sun, Xiao-Kang An, Li-Hong Pan, Shuang-Lin Zhang
    Biology Open 2016 5: 794-800; doi: 10.1242/bio.017798

Summary: Leptin knockdown could become a new approach for the prevention of lung cancer progression, which we have shown is likely to be mediated by inactivation of the Notch and JAK/STAT3 signaling pathways.

  • RESEARCH ARTICLE
Aging influences steroid hormone release by mink ovaries and their response to leptin and IGF-I
Alexander V. Sirotkin, Dušan Mertin, Karin Süvegová, Abdel Halim Harrath, Jan Kotwica
    Biology Open 2016 5: 174-177; doi: 10.1242/bio.016436

Summary: Both leptin and IGF-I are involved in the control of mink ovarian steroid hormone release. Reproductive aging can be due to (a) reduction in basal progesterone release and (b) alterations in the response of estradiol but not of progesterone to leptin and IGF-I.
